First Dance Songs

June 26th. 2015

So it took you the last six months to choose the band that will have you all swaying to the groove on that dance floor on the night of your wedding. First things first, yes it’s time to choose that very first dance song!

Some couples choose ‘their’ song, which can be a song that holds some sentiment or happy memory that’s special to them both. Maybe it was the very first tune that was played on the night you first met. Some will choose their favorite love song resulting with everyone running for the tissues! While others will go for something a little non traditional and have a faster paced dance song. I was at a wedding recently and their first dance song was an Irish Traditional Reel, it got everyone on the dance floor, so anything goes!

A very popular idea lately is for the couple to start off with a slow romantic song and if brave enough the bride and groom suddenly break into an up tempo number, sometimes with the help of the bridal party and some dance class lessons. Guaranteed to break the ice and get the crowd in tears of laughter.

If we don’t have a song how do we choose one? Don’t worry, read on…
