Its the very first piece of information that’s given to your guests with the exciting details of your upcoming wedding. You are finally getting to tell them what you have known all along and also you are giving them a sneak peek into what style your wedding is going to be. Its so close now, you can almost hear those wedding bells chiming!

Choosing your stationary is an important task for any bride and groom. Here are a few top tips when deciding:

Have an idea as to what kind of a wedding you are having, whether its an informal Rustic Garden Party, Hollywood Glam Black Tie, Quirky and Modern or Elegantly Classic and Timeless. The invites are your guests first impression as to what your wedding day will be like.

Your wedding invitation can come in many shapes, sizes, colours and designs. At this point you may already have decided on a colour theme for your big day. For example some couples will opt to tie in the bridesmaids dresses, cake, flowers or reception decor to the invites. Or else another idea is to go with seasonal images or colours.Gather as much information and ideas as you can and show these ideas to your chosen stationer, together you will then come up with something unique to suit your theme and personalities.

Within the invitation set you will have the main invite first and foremost which will have all the details of the ceremony followed by the reception. An RSVP will also be included to allow your guests to let you know if they will attend or not. An optional card with directions of venue/maps or accommodation is a popular part of the invitation now as it makes it easier for guests when planning. Lastly you can decide on whether or not to have evening invitations printed to invite extra guests after the meal.

Make sure you give yourself enough time for ordering your stationary. If you are sending out Save the Date cards first or if it’s a destination wedding you will need to send these out several months in advance so as to give your guests enough time to plan ahead. Start looking for stationers about 10-12 months before your wedding date and order your invites no later than 5 months out so that you will have them printed and ready for posting at least 6-8 weeks before your wedding.
